Beyonder and Bergen Carbon Solutions sign LOI to enhance the technical capabilities of Beyonder batteries and secures local supply of critical carbons

Beyonder and Bergen Carbon Solutions (“BCS”) have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to establish a local value chain of green carbon for Beyonders BePowered product- and development work for next generation battery chemistries.

- Securing local access to sustainable carbon materials for our batteries are important, and the BCS novel technology to develop a true local CCU value chain is attractive for us to further explore. Our aim will be to offer a unique and competitive advantage for our batteries in the years to come, says Tove Nilsen Ljungquist, CEO of Beyonder.

The objective of the cooperation is to further establish and commercialize access to critical carbon materials for Beyonder`s BePowered products and the next generation battery chemistries.

- Local and sustainable battery production will be key as EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) will enhance the strategic importance for the battery producers to team up with new sustainable technology providers in the raw material space like BCS. Together with Beyonder, we will work to reduce their supply chain risk and their corresponding CO2 footprint in the years to come, says Odd Strømsnes, CEO of BCS.

About Bergen Carbon Solutions AS

Bergen Carbon Solutions (BCS) delivers both carbon capture and utilization technology and clean carbon raw materials, that adds value to existing and fast-growing industries. The company is making CO₂ a valuable resource, turning excessive greenhouse gasses into solid carbon. With its groundbreaking process for carbon capture and utilization (CCU), BCS is enabling clean carbon for green manufacturing. The CCU technology is ensuring stable delivery of carbon nanotubes and graphite, helping manufacturers to be less exposed to the raw material risks of geopolitical rivalry. Established in 2016, based in Norway, BCS is targeting the fast-growing battery industry globally, and other carbon intensive industries looking to replace conventional, fossil-based solutions to stay relevant in their markets.
