Beyonder and Stora Enso have signed a Letter of Intent

We are excited to collaborate with Stora Enso!

Beyonder and Stora Enso have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to explore commercialization of lignin-based hard carbon Lignode© produced by Stora Enso into Beyonder’s unique high-power batteries offering long cycle life and quick charge.

"This agreement is perfectly aligned with the Beyonder strategy towards being CO2 neutral within 2030 and building an effective sustainable supply chain. It is important for us to use environmentally friendly bio based materials that can be ethically sourced. With this collaboration we aim to increase our use of Nordic, bio based materials and thereby avoiding the dependency of mining." - Svein Kvernstuen, CEO of Beyonder

This agreement will have a significant impact on Beyonder's sustainability profile. Beyonder already uses bio based active materials derived from sawdust in the cathode. The introduction and commercialization of lignin-based hard carbon into the anode will further reduce the environmental footprint of Beyonder's already environmentally sustainable high-power batteries.

As part of the Letter of Intent, the parties will investigate how to optimize the Lignode© properties to suit Beyonder’s needs, create synergies, and reduce costs on bio based materials for commercialization.

This collaboration will further increase sustainability and decrease the carbon footprint in the battery field.
