“The establishment of 10 giga battery factories in Norway is a realistic scenario. The turnover from such a national initiative amounts to approximately 300 billion per year (Norwegian oil and gas export was approx. 330 billion in 2020).

Compared to this, Beyonder’s research project is extremely important as it revolves around Norwegian industrialization of battery production. Not only because of the research and development content, but also because it includes a significant boost towards education. Norway will need 1500-2000 new engineers in this field within 2025, and probably 3 times that within 2030.”

That makes it extra exciting that the winner of the Business Climate Award is Beyonder, one of several important players that drives battery development in our country going forward. Their solutions are innovative, new and exciting, says Ole Erik Almlid - CEO of NHO.

Midwest Energy and Beyonder have been announced as one of the 21 syndicates across the globe to be shortlisted in the challenge.

Beyonder has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tschudi Bio Company and WAI Environmental Solutions to cooperate on further development and production of Beyonder´s super-activated carbon.

A team of passionate European scuba divers visited Beyonder Battery Center this summer to have a look at how Beyonder produces their sustainable batteries.

Beyonder and Trefadder have been awarded 2,79 MNOK from Regionalt Forskningsfond Rogaland to study different tree species, parts, and ages to identify the most promising material for activated carbon. 

Together, Beyonder and ABB will cooperate to accelerate the energy transition by developing and manufacturing applications for grid frequency regulators, rails, UPS, support to wind turbines and maritime applications hereunder hybrid solutions with LiC and  hydrogen.
