Beyonder have signed one of the best battery experts that has ever set foot on Norwegian soil

Finally, Beyonder has found their Chief Technology Officer, and his name is Dr. Han Ho Lee.
- This is a huge milestone for us, says Beyonder’s talent acquisition director, Runar Austrheim.
- The entire world is now competing for world champion battery experts like this, and this appointment is particularly important for us being a technology company.

Dr. Lee has 31 years of experience within the battery industry, specifically working with developing state of the art battery technology, following the process from very early-stage R&D to manufacturing and commercialisation. -To have this wide range of expertise in this field is quite unique, underlines Austrheim.

- One of the reasons why I chose Beyonder was the name, says Dr.Lee. - When I heard it, I thought of explorers and pioneers, someone that goes beyond. This was also apparent when talking to the CEO during the recruitment process. The company is developing its own technology, going above and beyond, both in performances and within sustainability says Dr. Lee.

Dr. Lee was one of the key initial R&D members of LG Chem in 1996 where he worked with developing new battery technology for several years. He was also the first from the LG Chem R&D department to get an MBA from the US. After working with battery development for 17 years in LG Chem, he worked as a Senior VP and Battery Expert Director in Sejin Inotech and SEAT, respectively. His last stop before Beyonder was in Samsung SDI, where he worked with new battery products and technology marketing to Vehicle OEM.

- Beyonder do not want “normal” competition, with the conventional products. They look beyond this and want to utilise the self-developed technology to create new markets and new products, says Lee and adds that he thinks the Beyonder technology is interesting because of pre-lithiation and the concept of converting from saw dust to the active carbon.
